Tyler Woodward

Acceptance . Curiosity . Connection

I am a huge believer that my journey to date (complete with life’s challenges), alongside the world of therapy has led me to become part of the Lifetime Practice here in Cornwall.

I grew up in London in a bustling, multicultural and diverse area which has really shaped me in to the open-hearted, accepting and welcoming person and practitioner that you’ll experience when working with me as your counsellor.

My mum was a Psychotherapist and I was therefore exposed to the beauty of therapy and the possibilities of change.

I have over twenty years of experience in the field of recovery from addiction. This, I feel enables me to have a deep understanding of the support required for people struggling with a wide range of addictions.

I find it particularly rewarding working around recovery with groups and am delighted to be able to do this in a professional capacity alongside Malachy and other Lifetime professionals at Gladstone’s Lifetime (day programme based in Truro).

Of course, I am passionate around working on a one to one level around addictions as well or indeed, supporting clients in any areas of their lives that they feel could be working better for them, whether it’s relationships, work, loss, or struggles with mood and engagement in their daily lives.

As a person-centred therapist with an interest in the pluralistic approach (after Prof. Mick Cooper), I am focused on my clients as individuals and walk their path beside them with empathy and lack of judgement, bringing some gentle challenge where it could be beneficial and tailoring my approach based on the person I have in front of me.

I’ll work at your pace and engage with what you need from therapy, giving you the space and support you need to tackle the things that might have been holding you back or causing you issue.

You’ll find me a very down to earth therapist and a natural listener and sounding board. Having had a diverse work life, including completing ‘The Knowledge’ and qualifying as a London Black Taxi Driver, I’m also a keen drummer with a passion for music and good food. I hope that you’ll find it easy to connect with someone that’s so passionate about the value of good therapy.

I am a married, family man with three children ranging from in their thirties to under five! I’ve seen a lot of life and feel privileged to be living this latest chapter as a Lifetime Associate therapist.

If you feel like I could be the right counsellor for you, please mention my name on your enquiry form and I look forward to meeting you soon.
